When winter hits
The City of Redfield's snow ordinance is in effect from November 1 through April 1 each year. It covers parking during snow events and property owners' responsibility for sidewalks. The full text is below; a printable copy is available as a PDF.
Streets and parking
No person shall park, abandon, or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street, alley, or City-owned off-street parking area during the November 1 to April 1 period if it is snowing, if snow is forecasted, or if snow is being removed or plowed. Once the street is fully opened and the snow has ceased to fall, parking resumes wherever it is normally allowed.
Sidewalks
The abutting property owner is responsible for removing snow, ice, and accumulations from sidewalks promptly. If a property owner does not remove snow, ice, or accumulations within 24 hours, the City may do so and assess the costs against the property owner in the same manner as a property tax. The abutting property owner may be liable for damages caused by failure to clear the sidewalk within 24 hours.
